There is a point to minimizing risk and maximizing opportunity/gain. Those who do so, like myself, are refered to as min-maxers. However, when that becomes nearly the only point to the game then the gaming part is lost. I would like to get Obsidian armors for a few of my characters. In three and a half years of play I have gotten One ecto and a score of shards. I am constantly being told how you have to bring this class, and this build or that class and that build, and X consets or pay 850g to person with consets, and then you do exactly this, and you don't finish, and this speed clear gets so many shards it's great. We will see the same thing with opening the storage set.

The original idea seemed to be to create a game where each class could be played at anytime, anywhere, by anyone and get the job done. Each time something is created that allows people to be more efficient and effective, with the characters of their choice, the effect is nerfed. Currently if you are not running an Assassin or Monk, then the majority of the game is unprofitable. If you are running any of several cryer or like damage builds, you can still VSF - provided someone has lots of liquor for the 'Sin.

The idea of being able to get together as a group of friends, using any class combination, and go do the profitable stuff in a reasonable amount of time, has been nerfed at every opportunity. The remaining few options for getting something done then are made harder, so that it becomes a grind fest for a particular few chosen classes with a few chosen skills.

Yes, GW is and has bee for some time, a game principally about grind.

Oh! The irony that Bill Clinton would deny it...

I have to agree with that. I would like to get the statue for beating Urgoz and The Deep for my warrior (the latter beng possible and the former being... well tough considering as far as I know, warriors are rarely taken for urgoz.) Heck, i've taken to doing everything heros so i don't have to wait around for other people to get things done. Probably why I rarely play anymore is because the things I would like to get done, either can't be done with heros or is simply boring to do so. That, or, my profession can't get in. I main with warrior and rit, so, whatever builds dont want em, make it hard to get something done (heck, did Slavers Exile with heros because I had to, spent maybe an hour with my rit to kill the last dude).

Anyways, your right.

Now we all have to grind real life to get the monies for the storage panes and hair-face-name. Lame, real life sucks.

Of course it's grind, there's no other word for it.

So much hype about this update delivering new content and tbh it's really, really poor.

I see nothing's changed 'round here since last I posted. Endless "WAH!! They added something, now I'm forced to get it no matter what!" and then complaining that they have to work for it.

*sigh* Instead of weapon/equipment packs, they should've just added a 15-slot bag for the books (should be enough - 6 books for regular & hard mode for the campaigns, 1 for Young Heroes of Tyria, 4 books for EotN, 1 for the golem manual, leaving 3 slots for BMP books [since you need to carry the weapons and such, it'd be silly to stockpile all 4 books, anyways] and any new books they might need to add in the future). Have the historian send you on a quest to get it. Really, books are the only reason we really *needed* more storage for in the first place.

anet introduces z.quests to get stuff: QQ threads for grinding
QQ wins everytime

It sucks and it's the ONLY way to get increased storage worth a damn aside from forking over cash.

sorry, it's grind.

Grinding is the process of repetitively doing the same action over and over before you have access to more content within the game. It is not, as so many people seem to think - comitment. Raptor farming is grind. Its doing the same thing constantly for money or items, which are exchanged for in-game content. Keg farming is the same. Certain titles involve grind. Aliiance titles used to be big on this. Constantly doing FFF was grind. Doing AB over and over was also grindy, despite the change of battlegrounds and flexibility in useable builds. But other than this, really, there is not much grind in guild wars.

Zaishen challenges are not grind. People see that it will take a while before they get the 20 slot bag and start screaming about it. News flash, no. Its not grind. The challenges are varied and take you to completely different missions every time you do them. You can do any three of them and they span the four corners of the guildwars universe. Casual pve, high-end pve, casual pvp and high end pvp. Most importantly though, they change EVERY DAY. There is no repititious action here, there is just the option of playing various aspects of the game for a reward each day.

Yes, it will take a while to get your 20 slot bag, and you need to be somewhat commited to getting it. But dont for a second make out that guildwars has turned into a grindfest that has abandoned its casual players - it hasnt. You are being asked to simply play the game and eventually you'll get a bag. If thats too much for you, I would think about reassessing what enjoyment you get from guild wars.

Thankyou.

Judging by the content of the OP and the baseless, yet startlingly firm support being given to him here, I am inclined to conclude that Bill Clinton and SerenitySilverstar are the same person; either that, or Bill has his pants down with a secretary again.

Additionally, Cacheelma makes quite a strong point: by the definition of grind laid out by the OP, World of Warcraft contains exponentially less grind than Guild Wars does. This thrills me in ways that I can not express on these forums, as they are inappropriate and would offend the women and small children which make up the majority of the member base.

This is why i have only one pve character.I used to have six of them but i got rid of them shortly after GW:EN came out and the game got tedious with all of those quests i had to do six times. I advise everyone to do the same.

I can see both sides of the story here, but I do think it's ridiulous that the storage addition was major news for this update and we can't just get it when it's badly needed.

With the release of GWEN, players were encouraged to get multiple armor and weapon sets due to the HOM. Yes some players had multiple armors and weapons before that, but GWEN added to it. It seems to me they should have added extra storage as a reward for buying GWEN or something since all these armors for HOM take up so much space, and who'd want to buy it just to put it in the Hall and then salvage it? What a waste.

So yeah I think the extra storage should just be included...doing the same missions that we've already done 50 times for reputation points (that's grind if I ever saw it) is bad enough but now there's a whole new reason to grind just so we can store all those armors purchased because of the HOM.

And the GWEN armors? You have to grind your way to rank 5 to even get them; that alone deserves a free armor closet. kthx

Its just way too late for storage. I brought 10 equipment packs and put them on my toons and mules and the 50 slots actually made a nice difference. I got my free pane and its just sitting there empty and unused next to the other empty pane I already had so I never had the need for storage, but appreciate what I got. However grinding 100+ hours for a heavy equipment pack is not right when its old content that's been done a million times. My only thought is that they are pushing players into buying the panes and not seriously expecting any veterans to get the 20 slot heavy equipment bags. These updates seem to leave vets with the short end of the stick time and time again. People with all toons on their account Legendary Guardians need to do 100 more missions to get a nice bag? I don't think that's right. Also why can people see deactivated panes they haven't brought as if Anet is subliminally telling you your account is not complete till you buy those panes?
